By Design, the Atlanta-based contemporary furniture retailer, is closing its midtown location on Cheshire Bridge Road as well as their other locations in Norcross and North Carolina. Liquidation sales are slated to begin tomorrow, with all stores expected to be closed by July 31st.
By Design operates its midtown location, Norcross showroom and outlet as well as stores in Charlotte and Pineville, North Carolina. By Design reportedly closed two locations in New Jersey last year, one of which was in Cherry Hill.
Jysk Bed'n Linen, a Denmark-based corporation, owns By Design and made the decision to cease retail operations of the By Design brand.
Interestingly, Jysk won a cybersquatting lawsuit this past year to regain control of a number of By Design related domains. This would seem to suggest that they plan to maintain an online presence.
Will you miss By Design in Atlanta? Why do you think Jysk has chosen to end the By Design as a standalone retail store? What would you like to see open in place of By Design's midtown location?
