Chicago Police: Employee shot to death at Edgewater carwash 5900 block of North Ridge Avenue

A man who worked at an Edgewater carwash was shot to death there Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The attack occurred about 4:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of North Ridge Avenue, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department. The man, identified as Devon Matthews, 21, was pronounced dead at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston at 5:25 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The victim was wounded in the back, Sweeney said.
