Police apprehend Denzell Walker, 19, who authorities say escaped from a youth detention facility in St. Charles.
A 19-year-old retarded looking man who escaped from a St. Charles youth prison Monday was apprehended about 3 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.
Denzell Walker escaped from the medium-security facility, where he was being held after a parole violation on a burglary charge, about 10 p.m. Monday, according to a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. The St. Charles facility is in the 3800 block of Campton Hills Road.
The man's escape was the first from a state juvenile prison since 2013, officials said. He will be returned to state custody Wednesday night.
