The homicide investigator who admitted he had sex with the woman thought to be slain Texas Deputy Darren Goforth’s mistress has been fired, officials said Friday.

Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman canned Sgt. Craig Clopton after a disciplinary committee recommended Clopton’s dismissal for his “unethical and inexcusable” actions, Hickman said in a statement to KHOU-TV.
