Police arrest village head, others for killing man 2 days ago



The police in Bauchi State have arrested a village head and two other persons for allegedly killing 25-year-old man, Nasiru Audu, in the Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
The village head, Mohammed Bello, along with Bature Abdul and Babangida Abdul, were arrested by policemen attached to the Ningi Police Area Command.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, on Thursday explained that in 2009, the deceased, who is from Judo village in the local government, was declared missing.
He said since then, the police had been investigating Audu’s disappearance.
Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said, “On October 17, 2015, at about 4.30 pm, efforts by the police paid off and it was discovered that the deceased was killed by Bature (35) of the same village.
“Further investigations revealed that the suspect conspired with his elder brother, Babangida, to disposed the corpse inside a well and later informed their village head, Bello (70), who warned them not to tell anyone.”
The PPRO said that the three suspects had been arrested after confessing to the crime, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
