Twelve people were injured in separate shootings Monday, leaving several teen boys wounded, according to Chicago police.

Most recently, a 43-year-old man was seriously hurt after he was shot around 9:40 p.m. in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, said Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.

The man was a passenger in a parked vehicle in the 5000 block of West Chicago Avenue when an attacker walked up and fired shots, Greer said.
The attacker then jumped into a white SUV and fled eastbound, Greer said.

The 43-year-old was hit in the neck and shoulder. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

About 7:08 p.m., two men were shot on the 6100 block of South Martin Luther King Drive in the Washington Park neighborhood, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman.

The shooting left a 21-year-old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his back and leg and a 22-year-old man critically injured with a with a gunshot wound in the left side and stomach, Trainor said.
