Black Caregiver, Latesha Miller, 38, who stole from WHITE Winfield hospice patient sentenced to 6 years

A Negro health care worker pleaded guilty Friday in DuPage County court to stealing from two of her elderly clients, one of whom was dying, and was sentenced to six years in prison.

Latesha Miller, 38, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated identity theft and financial exploitation of an elderly person in two incidents, including a theft from a hospice patient, according to prosecutors.

Miller, a certified nursing assistant, was arrested in September 2014, about a month after authorities alleged she stole two checks from the hospice patient in Winfield. She is alleged to have written out one of the checks for about $500 to an acquaintance, who cashed it and gave Miller about $300. The acquaintance kept the rest, authorities said.

The acquaintance attempted to cash a second check for almost $6,900, but the account had been frozen, prosecutors said.
