At least 14 people have been shot in Chicago since Friday afternoon, including six within a two-hour span early Saturday, police said.
About 4:50 a.m. Saturday, a 35-year-old man was shot in South Austin, said Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Janel Sedevic.
He was in a parked car in the 5400 block of West Gladys Avenue when someone in a passing minivan fired shots. He was hit in the chest and arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Police initially said the man had been shot in the head and that he was in his 20s.
At 3:40 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in Little Village, Sedevic said.
He was in the 2800 block of South St. Louis Avenue when he was shot in the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
At 2:35 a.m. Saturday, two men were shot in the Gage Park neighborhood, said Chicago police spokesman Officer Ron Gaines.
