NYPD: Police shoot and wound black gunman who fired at victim during chase in Brooklyn

Two men were wounded — one by a police officer — in a wild shootout Friday in Brooklyn, police said.

An NYPD officer wounded a suspected gunman just moments after the man opened fire on another man on Cumberland Walk near Park Ave. in the Walt Whitman Houses in Fort Greene shortly before 8 p.m., a police source said.

The shooter chased his target through the project courtyard while squeezing off shots, sources said. With a gunshot wound to his thigh and running for his life, the victim raced across Park Ave. and ducked into the My Deli Food Market for safety. Shell casings were found in three locations around the area, a source said.

The shooter then hurried back into the courtyard, where he ran directly into police officers patrolling the area.
