Rally To Support Chicago Police Planned for Saturday

BRIDGEPORT — After demonstrators have for weeks have flooded Chicago streets in protest of the police department's handling of the Laquan McDonald case, one Bridgeport woman is staging her own rally for those who support Chicago Police.
Chrissy Zanin said she knows there's community support for the officers who patrol Chicago streets, and she said it's time for the police to be shown some love.
Zanin is calling for a rally to be held outside of the Deering District Headquarters, 3120 S. Halsted St., at 1 p.m. Saturday.
She's asked supporters to bring signs, wear blue and "bring lots of energy," according to the Facebook event she created for the rally.
"Let's make our unsung heroes know they are appreciated, respected and wanted!" Zanin wrote on the event page. "These men and women risk their lives daily so we can sleep peacefully at night. No matter how the media portrays them, we know that's the truth. "
Zanin has called for residents to meet outside the district headquarters, where they will then march to the police department's headquarters at 3510 S. Michigan Ave.
150 people have said they are going to the event on Facebook.
"I know we are all busy with the holiday season, but I am sure we can find an hour or two to let our first responders know that the people of Chicago have their backs!" Zanin said.
