19th Ward Alderman Matt O'Shea: Muslim / Islamic Ran Mt. Greenwood Gas Station Shut Down for Illegal Cigarette Sales - BZ Quick Mart Gas Station at 10301 S. Kedzie Ave - Most likely funneling the profits of these illegal cigarette sales to terrorists / American hating organizations

 Yesterday, the City of Chicago settled a lawsuit with the operators of the BZ Quick Mart Gas Station at 10301 S. Kedzie Ave. related to the sale of illegal cigarettes.  Based on multiple complaints my office received from customers, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection issued four different citations after being denied access to the store safe on several occasions.  To settle those citations, the owner of BZ Quick Mart has agreed to pay a $7,500 fine and voluntarily close for twenty-one days. 

The closure is scheduled to take place from 2/15/16 to 3/7/16.  To read a copy of the settlement report, please click here.   

In 2014, the City settled an unrelated case against this business with a $12,000 fine.  Moving forward, my office will continue to monitor this establishment to ensure compliance with all appropriate City codes.  Thanks to the residents who originally brought this matter to our attention, and to the Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection for their efforts in this matter.
