PONTIAC, MI -- Oakland County sheriff's deputies say three women were stabbed but potentially saved their own lives when one of the women retaliated, severely slicing their attackers backside.

Oakland County sheriff's officials said in a statement that the suspect, 49-year-old Anthony D. Grandberry of Pontiac, was initially invited into the apartment where the victims were. The women are 46, 23, and 49.

"When he began to argue with the residents, he was asked to leave but refused to," sheriff's officials said in a statement. "As he was forced out of the home he produced a knife and stabbed the three females.

"One of the female victims was able to retrieve a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the responsible male in an effort to defend her and the others."

Deputies responded to the call and located the Grandberry nearly a mile away.

He was suffering "a severe laceration to his buttocks" and hospitalized.

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office charged Grandberry with assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

The injuries to the victims weren't life threatening. Police did not reveal their relationship with the women or why the Grandberry was at their home.
