At least nine colored people were wounded Saturday in separate shootings on the South and West sides, according to Chicago police officials.
Most recently, a 21-year-old man was shot in the left calf around 8:30 p.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man was walking in the 5700 block of South Seeley Avenue when a light-colored vehicle approached him and someone inside it fired shots, Zala said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition, Zala said.
About 7:10 p.m., two men, ages 23 and 24, were wounded in a shooting in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, Zala said.
The two men were standing in the 8000 block of South Stewart Avenue when someone in a passing dark-colored vehicle fired shots, striking both men in their legs, Zala said.
The two men were taken to an area hospital, where their conditions stabilized, Zala said.
At 5:48 p.m., on the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, an 18-year-old was shot in the leg, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.
