COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man recently released from prison remained jailed Saturday on rape and other new charges after a Chase Bank employee was assaulted while assisting him at the bank, police said.
Billy D. Anderson, 31, walked into the downtown Chase Bank building about 4:45 p.m. Friday and said he wanted to rent a safe deposit box, Columbus police said. Anderson subsequently sexually assaulted the female employee, police said.
The employee was attacked after she began paperwork and escorted Anderson to the vault with the safe deposit boxes, NBC4i reported. The vault is located in a secluded area where the attack could not be heard by others, police said.
Police said Anderson fled on foot and was soon caught.
