The Final Chapter For Article 14 and Olmstead in Midtown
Midtown concepts opt not to renew lease.
Article 14 and sibling concept Olmstead, which both opened in midtown at 1180 Peachtree in late 2012, have closed. Olmstead first opened as a restaurant in 2012 before being converted to an event space in 2013. Both enterprises were owned and operated by Atlanta-based Legacy Restaurant Ventures.
According to the restaurant's website, Article 14's final day of service was last night, Saturday, February 27th.
The large, approximately 14,000 square foot space was originally home to Trois, a French restaurant from Atlanta's Concentrics Restaurants. The upscale restaurant, regarded as one of the group's best, opened in 2006 but was the victim of downtown in the economy and closed in 2009.
Legacy Ventures, founded by David Marvin, includes a number of hotel, restaurant and event facilities, many located within the firm's Luckie Marietta District downtown. To my knowledge, Olmstead and Article 14 were the only two restaurant concepts not located within a Legacy-managed hotel or property.
Will you miss Article 14 and Olmstead? What would you like to see open in their place? Why do you think so many restaurants struggle for success in midtown?
