UPDATE: 19th Ward Chicago Alderman Matt O'Shea Shuts Down Negro X-Rated Strip Show in the Heart of Mt. Greenwood - 11114 South Kedzie Ave

UPDATE: 'Ultimate Girls Nite Out' Canceled, Owner Says She Had the Best Intentions
MOUNT GREENWOOD — The "Ultimate Girls Nite Out" has been canceled in Mount Greenwood.

The host of the "ladies-only" event, Renita Gholston, was issued a cease and desist order Wednesday by the city's Department of Business and Consumer Affairs, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) said.

Her business, Renita Fitness at 11114 S. Kedzie Ave., was planning the host of the event featuring "X-Adult Entertainers" from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. But Gholston said she had only the best intentions in mind.

She said the event was aimed at single women who would otherwise be sitting at home on Valentine's Day weekend. It was also meant to celebrate her fitness studio's two-year anniversary.

Thank you for bringing the Girls Night Out advertisement to my attention.  To clarify, the owner of that establishment does not have the appropriate licenses necessary to host these types of events.  I have shared the email you sent with our attorneys and a Cease and Desist order has been drafted.  The Chicago Police were hoping to deliver it today to notify the business owner that this activity is illegal.  If you see the event actually taking place, you can call 9-1-1 and tell the dispatcher an event is taking place despite a Cease and Desist Order being in place.  Typically when we serve C/D orders, the events do not move forward.
