29-year-old Alyssa Malone dmitted to driving vehicle in hit and run crash that injured child
TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe Police have made an arrest in a hit and run crash that injured an 8-year-old boy on March 2.
29-year-old Alyssa Malone was taken into custody on Thursday. In the surveillance video released on Tuesday, you could see the child was thrown off of his skateboard.
Police say during an interview, Malone admitted to driving the vehicle during the accident and was aware she had hit the child.
"After much media and social media attention with the surveillance video that was released earlier this week, Tempe Police received an anonymous tip today that led detectives to Malone," stated Lt. Mike Pooley.
An inspection of Malone's 2011 Chevrolet Malibu revealed minimal damage, but it was consistent with where the car hit the boy.
Police say the boy was struck right after he got off a city bus. He was knocked to the ground and ended up with a fractured foot, some scrapes and bruises, but is okay.
