Boruboru Bringing Sushi Burritos and Poke Bowls to Emory Point

New restaurant coming to Emory Point.

Boruboru plans to open later this year at phase two of Emory Point on Clifton Road.  The approximately 1,900 square foot restaurant will open in space D-160 A, adjacent to Aladdin's Mediterranean Grill, which recently opened in space D-150.  

Boruboru will feature sushi, sushi burritos (just what it sounds like), and poke (po-kee) bowls, a traditional Hawaiian bowl often made with marinated raw fish, sticky rice and vegetables.  

The restaurant is being opened by chef/proprietor Michael Rome.  Rome is also chef and co-founder of M.Y.O. Sushi in West Covina in Los Angeles.  

Rome, as Michael prefers to be called, worked in a number of restaurants in Atlanta prior to opening M.Y.O. Sushi in L.A. in 2013.  Among the more notable posts Rome held were as "Head Chef" at  Rise Sushi and Seafood Lounge in the Luckie Marietta District downtown, and as "Sushi Chef" at TOMO Japanese Restaurant in Buckhead.  

While Boruboru will be similar to M.Y.O. Sushi (described as a Chipotle-like experience), the Emory Point eatery will be slightly higher end with more customization options.  Rome said a good comparison to his concept would be that of Pieology, a California-based customizable pizza eatery coming to the greater metro Atlanta late this spring. 

Rome added that the food at Boruboru "will be customizable [to fits guests'] mood, passion and the season." 

Rome is hopeful that the restaurant will be open by late summer.  

Boruboru is part of a holding company called "Innovative Food Group, LLC," hinting at the concept potentially being only the beginning of larger plans for the "group." Rome indicated that for now, he and his partners' attention is on getting the first Boruboru open, but if it proves successful, they hope to grow the concept in the future.  

Boruboru Sushi is the latest restaurant in a spree of recent restaurant openings at Emory Point.  Marcello's Pizzeria / Trattoria recently opened in the former La Tagliatella in phase one of the project, while Aladdin's Mediterranean recently opened in phase two.  Additionally, The General Muir recently opened its TGM Bread storefront in the former Sweet Monkey yogurt and cupcake shop.
