A Lincolnwood police lieutenant is suing the village for at least $50,000 in a personal injury lawsuit stemming from an accident that occurred in the department's parking lot in 2014, court records show.
In the lawsuit, filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Lt. Schenita Stewart, a 16-year veteran of the Lincolnwood Police Department, claims she was injured on June 27, 2014, as she pulled off of Lincoln Avenue into the parking lot next to the police department at 6900 N. Lincoln Ave.
Stewart was riding a motorcycle as she drove into the lot and came into contact with the blades of a forklift which, the suit claims, were protruding into the traffic lane of the entrance to the parking lot. The village was working on a construction project that affected the parking lot, records show.
