DRIVING WHILE BLACK IN CHICAGO KILLS - Emma Balenton-Evans killed after she ran a red light and smashed her Infiniti sedan into a big old Toyota SUV on Chicago South Side

A 64-year-old colored woman died and three others were hurt after two cars crashed Saturday evening in the Woodlawn community area on the South Side.
About 7:50 p.m., an Infiniti sedan was traveling eastbound in the 1600 block of East Hayes Drive when it ran through a traffic signal and struck a Toyota SUV, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.
A 64-year-old woman, a passenger in the Infiniti, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she died, Zala said.
The woman was identified as Emma Balenton-Evans of the 8000 block of South Merrill Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.
