Illinois State Police Supreme Commander Leo Schmitz shuts down I-57 Expressway to investigate yet another Negro Expressway Shooting

A person was shot on Interstate 57 in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side early Friday.

A male, whose age was not immediately known, was shot about 1:45 a.m. while traveling in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 111th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but his condition was not known early Friday, police said.

Northbound lanes of I-57 were closed between 119th and 111th streets as of 3 a.m. while police investigated.

As of 5:35 a.m., all lanes have been re-opened on I-57 northbound at 111th and the ramp at 119th is no longer blocked.
