Early Released Negro Murderer, Arthur Cain (53) charged in the murder of Dominique Shavonne Ferguson after the murdered victim's body was found stuffed into a suitcase

A 53-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body in a suitcase in the Roseland neighborhood just after Christmas.

Arthur Cain, who at the time was on parole in a 1980 murder and robbery case, was already in custody in connection with concealing the woman's death and was ordered held on $1 million bond in January.

Police announced the new charges - first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death - Tuesday night. He's due in bond court Wednesday.

The remains were found in the 300 block of West 115th Street on Dec. 27, according to police.

The woman later was identified as Dominique Shavonne Ferguson, 21. Cain was charged after it was determined that the victim’s death was caused by asphyxia, according to police.

Cain had previously been charged with concealment of a death and was accused of having moved Ferguson’s body. Moving the body of someone who died of something other than a homicide is a Class 4 felony, according to Illinois statute.

Cain is on parole for murder, armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

No details of those crimes immediately were available, but records show he was sentenced to 70 years in prison for the murder charge back in 1981 and was paroled in May 2015.

He was scheduled to be discharged from his parole in 2018.
