Pierre Payne, 32, was celebrating his birthday at a party in Englewood when someone who wasn’t invited opened fire at him and others in the crowd late Friday, killing him and another man, according to police and his friends.

Payne was struck in the chest and collapsed onto the floor of a garage in the back of a two-story home in the 7400 block of South Eggleston Avenue where the party was held.

Kevin McLaurin, 24, was one of about 15 to 20 people at the party when gunfire erupted about 11:20 p.m.

He said he saw a muzzle flash and heard about eight gunshots. He then saw Payne drop to the ground and rushed to him.
