High-ranking NYPD cop kills himself at Long Island golf course after being questioned by FBI in massive corruption probe — 'What did the feds know that was so big that he had to take his own life?'

A high-ranking NYPD officer ensnared in a police corruption probe killed himself Friday, just days after the FBI grilled the veteran cop at his home, police sources said.

Inspector Michael Ameri, 44, was found dead of a gunshot wound inside his parked departmental car outside the Bergen Point Golf Course in West Babylon, L.I., about 12:45 p.m.

Ameri was questioned in recent days for at least the second time by FBI agents investigating the ongoing scandal involving a pair of businessmen with ties to Mayor de Blasio, sources told the Daily News.

He was among the first cops questioned by the feds, specifically about providing police escorts and crowd control for Orthodox Jewish funerals in Brooklyn, according to a source.
