Hundreds gather for funeral send-off for Aurora firefighter Michael Adamovich

Several hundred uniformed firefighters gathered Saturday morning for the Aurora funeral of a 38-year-old comrade who died unexpectedly at his Yorkville home.

Michael Adamovich worked for the Aurora Fire Department for six years and had been serving with Engine Company 10 when he died May 8.

Aurora firefighters stood in solemn salute outside of the Daleiden Funeral Home as pallbearers carried his American flag-draped casket to a 1921 Stutz fire engine covered in blue bunting.

The Aurora Fire Department is a family, said Lt. John Nolan, a 27-year department veteran.
