Four people were formally charged Friday stemming from the shooting of a Warren man who went to a local motel this week to meet a transgender prostitute.

The 45-year-old victim was wounded late Tuesday when he got into an altercation with the prostitute and a second person at the Red Roof Inn, on Dequindre Road near Interstate 696, officials said.

Mayor James Fouts said one shot struck the victim as he was robbed, causing a serious injury that was not deemed life-threatening.

Two suspects ran across Dequindre and into Madison Heights, hoping to avoid arrest.

After an investigation by detectives, law enforcers arrested four individuals.

According to 37th District Court officials, the arraigned suspects and their respective charges included:

• Kezia Charles-Kirlen Wilson, 19, charged with assault with intent to commit murder and two counts of armed robbery. Wilson faces up to life in prison if he is convicted of any of those charges. He also faces weapons charges including possession of a firearm while committing a felony, and being a convicted felon in possession of a gun. He was jailed in lieu of $200,000 cash or surety bond set by Visiting Judge Sherman Faunce.

• Keilone Aaron Jackson-Wilson, charged with two counts each of armed robbery and carrying a firearm while committing a felony. He was jailed $100,000 cash or surety bond.

• James Vernon Beal, 26, accused of receiving and concealing a gun. His bond is $5,000.

• Deangelo Carlos Dudley, 23, who faces only a drug-related offense, possession of analogues. He needs $10,000 or a surety bond to get out of jail.

All four suspects reside in Detroit. They are scheduled to return to Warren district court for a preliminary hearing May 24.
