MOUNT GREENWOOD — Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt has closed at 11045 S. Kedzie Ave. in Mount Greenwood.
The froyo store on opened in October 2014 on the Far Southwest Side. It was the Oklahoma City-based chain's only Chicago location, according to the company's website.
The windows of the building were covered in brown paper Thursday morning and a sign on the door read, "We've closed our doors. Thank you for your business and support."
The posted sign also directed customers to the website to find the nearest Orange Leaf location, which is in Dyer, Ind. A message on the store's Facebook page offered similar instructions.
"Thank you for your support of Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt," read the online message dated Saturday.
Amit Patel of Blue Island opened Orange Leaf after buying the building from the owners of Wonderburger in March 2014. The burger shop was open for 60 years.
Patel did not offer specifics as to why the business closed Friday morning but said he'll begin looking for a new tenant soon. He suspected a food or retail user would be a likely fit.
