A colored man with a shady past was killed and at least 17 other colored folks have been wounded during separate shootings across the city, police said.
Around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was shot to death and an 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Pilsen neighborhood, police said.
The two men were standing on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Throop Street when a Chevrolet Tahoe pulled up and someone inside it fired shots. The 20-year-old was struck in the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The 18-year-old was also shot in the back, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
