Police investigating the death of an attorney found strangled in his Northbrook office this week described the slaying as an isolated event that does not pose any ongoing threat to the community.
Jigar K. Patel, 36, a Prospect Heights resident, was found dead in an office building in the 1300 block of Shermer Road Wednesday. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office classified the death as a homicide following an autopsy Friday.
Northbrook police were called to the office building at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a well-being check and found Patel dead in a third-floor office.
The death is being investigated by Northbrook police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force. Investigators are asking anybody who has information or saw anything suspicious in that area Wednesday afternoon or evening to call Northbrook police at 847-564-2060.
