Lynwood IL - Christopher L. Stone, 27, DRIVING WHILE BLACK kills - second body recovered from pond where a vehicle at rocket speed flew into the pond landing upside down

Officials fear more body(s) may still be in the pond

LYNWOOD, IL – The body of a second crash victim was pulled Tuesday morning from a Lynwood pond. Authorities have not yet identified the body, which was that of a male, Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The victim is the second found after a car crashed into the pond on Dec. 18. Police were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. that day after a 911 call reporting that a car left the roadway and went into a sanitation district retention pond between Torrence Avenue and IL-83.
The car was eastbound on Lincoln Highway when it left the road, drove across a field and into the pond, which is about 30 feet deep, Chicago Sun-Times reports. Christopher L. Stone, 27, was found dead inside the black Pontiac Grand Prix, which had inverted and was pulled from the pond off the 3000 block of Lincoln Highway late Monday. Stone lived in the 18700 block of South Island Avenue in Chicago Heights. He was not wearing a seat belt, so authorities were not able to determine if he was the driver or passenger.
A witness told police they had observed one person bob to the surface immediately after the crash and then disappear back into the water.
A police investigation led authorities to believe a second person was inside the vehicle, prompting additional search efforts last week. The followup search was called off late Thursday, and the efforts resumed Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
