A former Buffalo Grove officer faces corruption and drug possession charges after she allegedly passed information about an undercover officer to a felon, according to court records.
In October, Lauren Greenwood, 27, of Mundelein, passed information she acquired on her job to the man "with the intent to obstruct or impede" his prosecution, according to a warrant. She also used a law enforcement database to look up an undercover police vehicle and then passed information to the man, court records allege.
She was arrested Tuesday after an investigation, led by the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, and a search of her home turned up a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a police news release.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Greenwood was held on $250,000 bond at the Lake County Jail on two counts of official misconduct, as well as charges she possessed marijuana and paraphernalia, records show. Her next court date is Monday. The drug-related charges are misdemeanors; official misconduct is a felony, and a conviction on the charge can carry a prison term of two to five years, authorities said.
Greenwood, who was ranked as a patrol officer, resigned from the department Nov. 17, said Buffalo Grove's director of human resources, Arthur Malinowski. She joined the Police Department in June 2012, he said, declining to give further details of her employment or resignation.
