Red Robin to Replace Ruby Tuesday at the Mall of Georgia

Red Robin debuted the above new logo last year
Burger chain bound for Buford.

Greenwood Village, Colorado-based Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews will open later this year at the Mall of Georgia in place of the recently closed Ruby Tuesday.

Ruby Tuesday has continued to shrink its presence in Georgia, and elsewhere amidst declining interest in the once popular chain.  The Maryville, Tennessee-based chain previously shuttered locations in Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Northlake Mall in Tucker and on Lenox Road near Lenox Square in Buckhead. Ruby Tuesday also had locations on West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur, Acworth, Snellville, Cartersville and Griffin, among others.

Current plans for the new Red Robin restaurant are for it to open later this fall, according to a person familiar with the project.

There are not a ton of options for "better burgers" in Buford with Burger 21 in Mall of Georgia Crossing being among the few options.

Red Robin has a handful of locations in Georgia including restaurants at The Shoppes at Webb Gin in Lawrenceville, at the Collection at Forsyth in Forsyth and near Ashley Park in Newnan.

Red Robin joins a growing list of restaurants including Tin Lizzy's, The Cheesecake Factory, Marlow's Tavern and Jimmy John's that have opened at Mall of Georgia in the past couple of years.  More recently, Hooters and Panera Bread have opened locations near the mall with la Madeleine planning to open in a former tgi Friday's near the mall later this year.

As I reported in November, a new Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill is opening in the mall's outdoor area known as "The Village" later this year.

Will you miss Ruby Tuesday at Mall of Georgia? Have you been to a Red Robin, if so what were your thoughts?  What else would you like to see open in the Buford area?
