Police have made an arrest in the case of a mother killed in a drive-by almost thirteen years ago.

Lacy Ferguson was leaving a convenience store in Modesto, Calif., with her boyfriend in 2003 when she was hit in an exchange of bullets between two vehicles.


The 25-year-old died from her injuries the following day, her daughter Haleigh’s third birthday.

Authorities believe that the shooting was gang-related, and that the young woman was not the intended target, according to KOVR.

However, justice in the slaying has not been forthcoming despite her mother keeping attention on the story for years.

Now David Aguilar, 44, will face murder charges after extradited from Mexico, where he has been in custody since 2014.

Ferguson’s mother Boni Driskill referred to the suspect as a “thing” in a Facebook post and said “we will be there for its arrainmet (sic).”
