Barrington Hills police officer Dominic V. Caputo, 54 and Kevin L. James, 19, seriously injured in car collision
A Barrington Hills police officer and a motorist were seriously injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash that required both drivers to be extricated from their vehicles.
Barrington Hills police responded to the crash at 3:09 a.m. after the two cars collided, the department said in a statement.
Kevin L. James, 19, of Lake in the Hills, was driving a silver 2006 Hyundai Tucson westbound on County Lake Road at Bellwood Drive and Barrington Hills police officer Dominic V. Caputo, 54, was traveling eastbound in a 2013 Ford Explorer squad car when the two collided.
Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District transported both to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with serious but non-threatening life injuries, according to Barrington Hills police. County Line Road was closed between Donlea and Ridge roads until 8:35 am.
The crash remains under investigation by the Barrington Hills Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, Barrington Hills police said.
