Two of Chicago Area's Infamous Tow Firms - Lincoln Towing Service and Rendered Services - try to save their business licenses

A day of reckoning for two of Chicago's largest, most notorious fleets and mob connected tow wreckers may be approaching, however slowly.

Lincoln Towing Service and Rendered Services faced separate license hearings before an Illinois Commerce Commission judge in Chicago this week, part of a lengthy process to determine whether the firms can continue to haul away tens of thousands of cars each year.

The hearings come amid hundreds of citations for illegally towing cars, and mounting public pressure fueled by several high profile incidents, including a Jeep captured on video last year breaking free from the grasp of a Lincoln wrecker with the hoisted driver still behind the wheel.

Lincoln was cleared in that incident Wednesday after the Jeep driver failed to show up for the hearing.
