CHICAGO, IL - A sign scribbled on a piece of cardboard on display near the intersection off 111th and Kedzie throughout the day on Monday has been submitted to the City of Chicago's Commission on Human Relations for a possible investigation of a civil rights violation.

The sign, which was posted in the area with bushes and benches on the northeast corner of the busy intersection near the "Mt. Greenwood" brick structure on Monday, was a message of support for local law enforcement.

"We support our heroes!" the sign read, but continued with a much different message.

"Criminal supporters and quasi honor students go home and take your crime with you!"

The sign was presumably posted in the wake of a fatal shooting in which an off-duty police officer killed 25-year-old Indianapolis resident Joshua Beal after Beal allegedly waved a gun during a traffic altercation at the corner of 111th and Troy and the protests that resulted on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Jennifer Scott of the city's Commission on Human Relations confirmed Tuesday morning she received a copy of a photo of the sign on Monday.

Another sign, also on cardboard box material and printed in black marker, read "Support law enforcement...We won't take your crap."

With the word "crap" underlined three times.

That one was found on the ground closer to 111th Street.
