OH MY GOD!!!! Chicago Police Highly Political Jefferson Park District Commander William "BILL" Looney given reprimand for returning cop who fatally shot 2 to street duties amid investigation

A WRITTEN REPRIMAND??? Say it isn't so! Such a harsh penalty!!! WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!

The Chicago Police Department issued a written reprimand last week to a high-ranking officer responsible for returning a patrolman to the street before the city finished investigating his fatal shooting of two people, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Though the punishment is among the lightest possible, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said it was both significant and rare for a command-level officer — Jefferson Park district Cmdr. William Looney in this case — to be reprimanded for the move.

The Tribune revealed last month that the department had returned Officer Robert Rialmo to the street for several months over the summer and fall while the investigation continued into his shooting last December of Quintonio LeGrier, 19, and Bettie Jones, 55, an innocent bystander.

Rialmo was removed from desk duty and detailed to a citywide unit that intervened in potentially violent situations despite the fact that he had filed an unorthodox lawsuit against the department alleging that he shot the two in part because of poor training. At the time, Guglielmi blamed a "careless administrative oversight" at the Northwest Side district for Rialmo's assignment to the unit.
