AURORA IL - Kleptomaniac Alderman Lynne Johnson convicted of theft not running for re-election to 'give other people a chance'

In  the last hour on the last day to file nominating petitions to run for Aurora City Council, Alderman Lynne Johnson was at the Aurora Election Commission, her paperwork ready to go.

But she decided not to file for a second term representing the 10th Ward.
Johnson, who faces a burglary charge and previously pleaded guilty to theft, had remained silent about why she won't' be running. But she broke that silence this week, saying she decided not to run when she saw the other candidates in the race.
She said she would only have run if no one she could support joined the race. However, she declined to say who she will be backing.
"There is definitely one very good candidate in that pool of three people," she said. "I think everybody should give other people a chance to run, to let others get involved."
