FBI agent shot, 4 arrested in Detroit heroin raids

The FBI's effort to crack down on heroin overdoses in Metro Detroit landed one of their own in the hospital today as a veteran agent was shot during a morning drug raid that ended with four suspects going to jail, including a juvenile.
According to the FBI, the agent's injuries are non-life threatening and the juvenile suspect was released. No charges have been announced, though an investigation into the assault on a federal officer is underway.
"This is a pretty stark reminder of the everyday battles we wage ... with gangs, guns and violence, not only in Detroit, but everywhere," said Detroit's FBI chief David Gelios, who visited the injured agent at the hospital.
The shooting happened around 6 a.m. at a house near Dacosta and Fenkell streets,  where a task force had gone to execute a search warrant as part of a two-day operation targeting heroin and crack cocaine dealers. A SWAT team was entering the  house when a shot was fired, striking one agent as he stood near the doorway.
Gelios would not disclose where the bullet struck the agent. He would only say the agent was shot once, that the injury was non-life threatening, and that no shots were fired in return.
