The man suspected of killing his 14-year-old niece in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood last weekend was ordered held Wednesday on $2 million bail. A judge found probable cause to hold him on investigation of first-degree murder.
Fourteen-year-old Christy Nguyen Phu was folding laundry on her bed (Ancient Chinese secret, huh? CALGON) Sunday afternoon when her uncle — who was apparently angry that she refused to give him a pair of shoes bought for her by her father — burst through her bedroom door and shot her once in the head, according to Seattle police homicide detectives.
King County District Court Judge Arthur Chapman found probable cause Wednesday to hold Si Phu, 24, on investigation of first-degree murder in connection with the girl’s death. Si Phu, who did not appear in court, was ordered held on $2 million bail.
