Soak the American Taxpayers - Bangladeshi man, Mohammad Towfikul Alam, shot in Mexico lost use of legs before bullet lodged in buttocks was removed in N.Y. hospital

Ay Caramba!

A Bangladeshi lost the use of his legs and more than four months of his life south of the border before a bullet lodged in his buttocks was removed at a New York hospital.

Responding to reports of a man being treated for a gunshot wound, NYPD officers rushed to Bellevue Hospital Dec. 10 to find out the victim had been shot four months earlier and more than 3,800 miles away — in Mexico, officials said.

Mohammad Towfikul Alam, 27, had just moved to Mexico for a new life and a new love, marrying a woman he had met online. They were living in the southern Mexican state of Tabasco when he was robbed by two men on a motorcycle who “destroyed” his life.

The business developer was waiting for his wife under a lamppost in a park near her home in August when the men approached him — their guns drawn.

“They stopped behind me, took the cell phone from my hands,” he said. “They shot once in the air and I pushed one of them and tried to run.”
