Chicago Negro Violence Shuts Down Yet Another Chicago Expressway - Woman, 18, shot in chest while riding in car on Dan Ryan
An 18-year-old woman was shot in the chest while riding in a car on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Thursday, one of at least eight people wounded across Chicago over 12 hours, according to police.
The woman and other people in the car had gotten into an argument with someone in another car near 79th Street and Lafayette Avenue in the West Chatham neighborhood shortly after 2 a.m., Illinois State Police said in a statement.
The second car followed the woman's car onto the 79th Street ramp to the southbound Dan Ryan, where someone in the second car fired “multiple shots at the victims’ vehicle,” state police said.
The gunman's car left the expressway, and the woman was driven to Little Company of Mary Hospital, then transferred to Stroger Hospital, where she was stabilized, according to state police. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, state police said.
No one was reported in custody.
