NYPD Officer Robert McEachern found guilty of "Garry McCarthy" drunkenly firing his gun into air while off-duty

An off-duty cop who capped a night of Bronx barhopping by blasting his gun in the air eight times got a sobering verdict on Wednesday.
Officer Robert McEachern was convicted of drunkenly firing into the sky with his department-issued gun outside a bar on Arthur Ave. in Belmont.
The jury in Bronx Supreme Court found him guilty of reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, and eight counts of prohibited use of a weapon.
McEachern, then assigned to the 48th Precinct, had gone out drinking with his off-duty partner on Oct. 9, 2013, to celebrate his recent engagement and the fact that his fiancée was expecting a child.
