CHICAGO BLACK MURDERS, SHOOTINGS AND VIOLENCE EXPLODES IN JANUARY

A 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy died after they apparently were shot while driving in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side early Sunday, police said.

Citing preliminary information, police said it appeared the 21-year-old was shot in the head and the boy, a passenger in the car, suffered several gunshot wounds, police said.

The car crashed into a planter in the 3700 block of North California Avenue around 5:15 a.m., according to police.

Both victims were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Condition, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
