Awwwwwwww...... Hundreds of Freeloading Negroes losing CHICAGO HOUSING AUTHORITY (CHA) housing vouchers during difficult search for new home
PHOTO: Sandra Edwards got her Portage Park apartment after taking the Chicago Housing Authority to court to obtain an extension on her housing voucher deadline. “I love my place,” she said, “but it was a long, nasty chain of events to get here.”
Even before she had the Chicago Housing Authority voucher she had waited seven years to get, Kiya Powell was searching for apartments. She downloaded an app on her cellphone that allowed her to sort rental listings by neighborhood and cost. With a friend in tow, she drove up and down the streets of the Near West Side looking for units that were available and meeting with property managers.
But after three months of searching and filling out applications, setting up inspections with CHA workers and even paying a security deposit, Powell still did not have an apartment. As a result, she became one of hundreds of struggling applicants who had been awarded a coveted housing choice subsidy only to lose it for failing to meet a 90-day deadline. She then was denied a time extension.
