Former East Chicago Police Chief Mark Becker possibly might be the new police chief in Ferguson MO - I guess the mayor there DOESN'T CAVE, BUCKLE AND PANDER TO THE DEMANDING BLACKS LIKE RAHM EMANUEL DOES

Former East Chicago police Chief Mark Becker said Saturday he did not resign his position in order to pursue a "once-in-a-lifetime" job as the top cop in Ferguson, Mo., but he'd take the job if offered.

Becker stepped down as East Chicago's police chief Friday, a move he said he took to spend more time with family and pursue his part-time police and public-safety consulting work.

Shortly after he resigned, Ferguson police issued a news release naming Becker as one of four finalists for the chief's position in that city.

"I truly had left East Chicago with the full intention of taking time off and spending time with my family," Becker said Saturday.

The former FBI agent said he put in for the position some time ago but did not hear anything until his last week in East Chicago. He started out as one of 55 candidates for the position, he said. That field was narrowed to six and then whittled to four. He expects to learn sometime next week if he will be one of the two finalists for the job, he said.

"I'm just really honored the city of Ferguson is considering me," Becker said.
