Police Chase Stolen Papa T's Italian restaurant & pizza truck throughout multiple suburbs - The offender is in deep shit and the cops are enjoying deep dish
A pizza delivery truck stolen from Chicago was involved in a police chase in Lake County on Saturday.
Chicago Police spokeswoman Bari Lemmon said the pizza delivery truck was stolen around 1 p.m. in the 800 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago and was later recovered in Waukegan.
A manager at Papa T's Italian restaurant said the delivery driver loaded about 40 small pizzas into the truck then came back inside to get sodas. While inside, somebody stole the truck.
Once in Lake County, the stolen truck traveled north on Route 41 with a Chicago police helicopter above, said Det. Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County sheriff's office.
He said the pursuit went through, among other cities, Lake Forest, Park City and North Chicago.
North Chicago Deputy Chief Richard Wilson said officers were preparing to assist in the chase, but it went through the city too quickly.
Waukegan police Cmdr. Joe Florip said the truck was found abandoned in the 600 block of North Avenue.
Brittany Torkelson, 26, of Beach Park said she used a Facebook page that reports police scanner reports to track the pursuit. When she learned where the truck was found abandoned she went to take pictures.
"We just thought, 'Well, let's go see.' The chase was over and the truck was being put on a flatbed tow truck," she said.
Police searched the area, but never found a suspect, Florip said.
