Texas Man Jacob Pauda Accused of Beating Pregnant Girlfriend After Questioning Baby's Paternity

A Texas man accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend after questioning the paternity of the unborn baby was recently indicted by a grand jury and charged in the case, according to a local report.

Jacob Pauda, 30, was booked into a Lubbock County jail on Feb. 10 on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft and deadly conduct, inmate records showed.

His arrest followed an incident that started when he took the woman to his residence on Feb. 8. Pauda asked his girlfriend if she had cheated on him, and questioned whether the child was his, television station KCBD reported.

The woman denied the accusation, but Pauda allegedly ran toward her at that point and began punching the victim's face, according to the station, citing a police report.

He eventually stopped and grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen, then allegedly chased his girlfriend around the living room while holding the sharp object, authorities said in the report. After dropping the knife, Pauda was accused of slamming his girlfriend against several metal objects as she tried to call her mother.
