DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller has released the name of the Sandwich man who was killed after an Amtrak train carrying 273 people hit his vehicle at the Green Street crossing in Somonauk just after 3:00 on Sunday afternoon.

According to Coroner Miller, 28-year-old Joshua Wilson of S. Main Street in Sandwich was pronounced dead at the scene by Somonauk paramedics.

Somonauk Fire Chief Pat Colford says that Wilson's vehicle was northbound on Green Street in Somonauk when he allegedly drove around the gates when his vehicle was struck.

Chief Colford said that Somonauk firefighters assisted in the extrication of Wilson and the removal of the vehicle from in front of the Amtrak train.
