Armed Masked Negroes Terrorizing Waukegan IL - Eight Armed Robberies in the past few days
The streak of robberies in Waukegan that triggered extra police patrols in the last week continued Monday with an armed robbery of a food mart clerk and a customer in the store.
Two masked men walked into the North Avenue Food Mart at 946 North Ave. around 11:20 a.m., and one man displayed a handgun. They confronted the clerk and then confronted a customer, said Cmdr. Joe Florip, of the Waukegan Police Department.
Cash was taken from the clerk and the customer, who also was robbed of personal belongings. The men fled in a white van or SUV. Florip said it was disturbing the men spent enough time inside the business to also rob a customer.
"It was definitely a very active robbery scene," he said, which made it more dangerous.

"No property is worth being hurt over. If confronted, please comply with demands and relinquish your property," he said.
Police are investigating several store robberies and street robberies in the city over the past week.
On Saturday, a lone gunman robbed the Target at 3050 N. Lewis Ave. around 9:30 p.m. after getting in a checkout line and demanding the clerk empty the money from the drawer, Florip said.
